1.1. Students Lund is a university town. There are almost 89.000 people officially living in the city, 47.000 of them being students excluding those who are otherwise involved teaching and working at the university of Lund. This means that the city has been greatly influenced by the student population: For example, the flow of incoming and outgoing people at a semester's start or end is clearly felt as the city changes from a vibrant hub filled with young people to a close to ghost town. Students who study here come from all over of Sweden and also from abroad hence creating a cross border flow drawing people in on a global scale. The city houses therefore a stock of information - in libraries, museums, laboratories and other institutions. The information gathered and stored within the research and teaching institution is not only of importance locally (Lund city is now branding itself as a science research hub) but also globally as it draws in academics searching for appropriate research facilities and employment. Every year the amount of people involved in university study, research or work is increasing and thereby there is an ever increasing demand for housing and densities shift towardsunifacilities.
