This images is of the construction site of Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi, located in the forecourt of the Sheik Zayed Mosque. The project was a piece a public art and master planning as an international collaboration between the UAE, United Kingdom, Australia and China. As construction materials are not readily available locally in Abu Dhabi, most of the material was shipped internationally. For instance, the some 200+ cast aluminium panels used to clad the artwork were conceived by the British artist Idris Khan in the UK, designed, drawn and prototype in Australia, manufactured in Shanghai, China then shipped and erected in Abu Dhabi. This would not have been possible without a globalised economy.
