On this photo (https://www.holidaycheck.de/m/zermatt/05d1479d-6c81-3a54-86d1-553e1f6c4d2f) you see the "Bahnhofstrasse" in Zermatt, Switzerland. Zermatt with the worldwide famous Matterhorn and it`s Ski Area is one of the top Tourism Destinations in Europe. Every winter season thousands of visitors travel to the village of Zermatt. Over the last 50 years the village structures changed substantially and got more and more the characteristics like a small city in the mountain. As you can see on the photo Zermatt is car-free. Almost every transport in the village happens with small electric vehicles. As a result of the substantially growth of Zermatt the number of electric vehicles increased as well. Because of the huge amount of visitors and the small space for traffic areas, this resulted in some serious traffic problems. With the help of big data like the movement patterns of the tourists, it could be possible to optimize the traffic flow in Zermatt. With realtime observation of the movement patterns in combination with the capacity of the amount of electric vehicles, it could be possible to better distribute the traffic flow.
