FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2018-05-17 by Maria Munir
Visible: - Large intersection with a LRT stop in the foreground and one across the street - Glass buildings, a taller one in the foreground (school of pharmacy) smaller office buildings in background Invisible: A large intersection implicates a lot of traffic in this region, in addition means of public transit are used to get to this area. This is emphasised by the sheltered stop on both sides of the intersection. The stops are shaded from above and enclosed in glass which indicates that for a significant portion of the year it is not pleasant to be completely outside. Coupled with the building type this shows that the area is most busy during the day. This could help someone plan the space because they would know that this area is reaches a lot of pedestrian and vehicle traffic for the day, so they would know to orient what they are planning toward the day, and know that is is readily accessible. This area might be good for a park as it lacks green-space, a commercial district for a lunch time rush, or apartment buildings. This area would not be good for single family homes or loud activities.
