Gurgaon, a city located in Haryana, India, is known as a financial & technology hub, and has a large number of high-rise business buildings that mark its skyline. Most of these buildings have all-glass facades - a style typical of corporate towers, having emerged from the International style of architecture. This is a 'modern' trend in Gurgaon which reflects a construction style of a globalized economy - it pays no heed to the climate of India and materials that are local to India, arriving at buildings that are expensive and unsustainable. Considering that for a major part of the year the city faces a temperature ranging from 20-40°C, these buildings are very inefficient, sacrificing high amounts of energy to achieve a modern style for their buildings, meanwhile rejecting all traditional design and construction techniques of India that could help achieve thermal comfort as well as sustainability.
