This picture was made near the Camil Ressu boulevard, in Bucharest. As you can see the image shows two blocks of flats, one newly refurbished and the other being in the process of refitting. The building industry has become an increasingly globalized industry, so many building components are brought the the site from the place where they are built, from distances that may vary from tens or hundreds of kilometers up to thousands of kilometers, which more often than not increases the price and substantially decreases the sustainability of the building process. In this case many building materials are provided by deposits around Bucharest but until there they traveled a long way from various places in the country or abroad. Another aspect is the place where the workers are coming from, because in many highly developed countries the building workers are from developing country, this not being the case in Romania, due to the fact that Romania itself is a developing country.
