FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2018-04-28 by Marius Vlad Constantinescu
As you can see the picture saws a relatively crowded junction. It is about half past five P.M. in a Friday evening and many people left their work places and are going home. Some of them are using the public transportation, but a rather big part are driving home in their personal cars. Many of the cars have no passengers. Two "invisible information" are are the people using public transport going and which of the two roads that intersects is more crowded. In the first case we can see people waiting for the tram, but we are unsure where are they going, all we can see is that there are more people waiting for the tram that is going towards us than for the other one. In the second case we can see and approximate the number of cars that are going along each of the two roads, but for a better understanding of the situation we would need data (pictures) over a long period of time. Having more information would provide the authorities to program traffic lights in order let green be displayed for a longer period of time on the road that is crowded at any given moment.
