Uploaded on 2018-04-19 by Peter Angliongto
Stocks and Flows of the MetroManila include squatters and the flow of people in informal settlements, daytime density and the flow of people from their homes to the office and back, and water in terms of floods , as flooded areas are the stocks and the flows are the draining of flooded waters into streams, canals and bays. Measuring Squatters as stock allows us to monitor their inflow and outflow, for the future efforts to reduce these for the benefit of the whole city and the settlers themselves are more beneficial for all. By measuring the flow of people moving from the stocks of homes to the stock of offices and back we can use these to help develop strategies for fighting traffic , the bane of third worlds megacities which are growing. Flooded areas in the meantime are also a stock of disaster areas, perennialy problematic, inflows interms of rains and the draining of the waters eventually to the sea are what are monitored. For the future, by noting where the stocks of volumes of floods are , plans can be made to decrease inflows and increase outflows to prevent this in the future.
