Stocks and Flows in Krems an der Donau, Austria, located at the river danube 1. The most important flows: Electricity Water Heat Natural Gas Wood 2. Description: Electricity: FLOW Comes from various power plants, mainly from hydropower stations at the river Danube. So far, there is no hydropower station in Krems. There is also a thermal power plant approx. 10 km east. Water: STOCK AND FLOW Krems is located at the Danube River. It is used for water transport and there is a small port in Krems. Drinking water derives from the ground water (stock). Heat: FLOW There is a distance heating pipeline from the thermal power plant mentioned. Natural gas: FLOW Most of the houses with individual heating use natural gas, coming via pipelines from Russia. Wood: STOCK Some farmers in the outer districts use the wood from their own woods for heating 3. Changes: In future many "Strombojen" (Bouys containing small hydropower stations) will be placed in the Danube and create green energy. Furthermore many people are going to put solar power stations on their roofs.
