My name is Stephan Schmatz. The photo shows the building of the "NĂ– Landesgalerie" (Art gallery of the federal region of Lower Austria) in my home town, Krems an der Donau, Austria. Austria has a big building materials industry with companies like Wienerberger, the biggest brick producer of the world. Although Austrian is a quite small country with a little bit less than 9 million inhabitants, you should still be able to build a house only with material produced in Austria. But many companies already belong to international companies. Concerning the building of this gallery: Cement: Not known. Most probably by Lafarge, a French company that has subsidies and plants in Austria. Pipes: Not known. Most probably by PipeLife, an Austrian company owned by Wienerberger (Austria). Cables: Not known. Most probably by Pirelli, an Italian company that also has a plant in Austria. Wooden formboards: By Doka, Austria, part of the Umdasch company (Austria). Glass wool: By Isover, a German company that belongs to Saint Gobain (France), but also has plants in Austria. Glass: The whole facade is going to be covered with glass panels. I don't know what producer will be chosen, maybe Saint Gobain (France).
