Specifically in Johannesburg, numerous infrastructure projects are undertaken, however the standard to which these projects are delivered is very poor – projects and their associated environments are left in poor condition. This could be better managed, if; an initial awareness of these projects with citizens was created and if citizens were engaged for inputs. An App could facilitate this, by providing a platform that would; detail project, the approval process, the responsible institution. The App should also facilitate on-going discussions about; general inconveniences, progress, delivery of the project, rehabilitation of the surrounding environment. Examples of such projects include; the laying of fibre cables or the refurbishment of pavements. Very often, pavements are lifted and trenches dug for the installation of fibre cables. On the laying of these cables, pavements are left in very poor conditions (piles of soil are left on pavements and paving bricks are poorly reinstalled).
