1. Analysis of the data (www.climatecentral.org) showed that the effects of the UHI have been measured in 57 cities (USA). Single-day urban temperatures in some metro areas were as much as 27°F higher than the surrounding rural areas. In the summer, temperatures can be as much as 15-27°F hotter in cities. Urban planning and design (more trees etc) can help reduce the effects of urban heat islands. 2. I live in Balashikha, my microdistrict is separated from other urbanized territory of the city. To analyze the effects of UHI, the cities of Moscow and Balashikha were chosen, because my place of residence is a suburb of Moscow. Analysis of data showed that the temperature in Moscow is 1-3 degrees Celsius higher than in Balashikha. I believe that the higher temperature is due to the greenhouse effect (the presence of harmful industries, automobile emissions, insufficient number of green spaces), a large number of buildings. 3. Research suggests that urban planning and design that incorporates more trees and parks, white roofs, and alternative materials for urban infrastructure can help reduce the effects of urban heat islands. 4. In cities perform the policy of refusing personal motor transport in favor of public transport.
