I think following guidelines are important in creating a Citizen Design Science project: a) Figure out what combination of data sets are needed from citizens and make sure there is no redundancy so as to keep it as simple as possible. b) Designing an appropriate interface, physical or digital, which is convenient for the citizens to access and understand. c) Interface should enable communication not only between the citizens and experts but also within the participants of project to engage community. d) Citizens can be given access to interactive visualization of certain data from the city that can help them provide informed opinions on ways of improving urban design. e) Creating a sense of belonging to the project among citizens by emphasizing the importance of design element taken up by project for the livability of city and impact their participation can make using statistics, videos etc. f) Communicate progress and completion of the project with participants. Planning and implementation outcomes of the project also needs to be conveyed.
