In terms of a ecosystem serivce, the example utilised is a herb garden. Provisioning service: Herbs are grow in the complex as a food source, for consumption purposes. Once established, interaction / management is fairly limited. Regulating service: Although on a small scale, these plants will contribute to maintaining air quality by removing pollutants from the atmosphere and carbon sequestration and storage. If planted in typically herb gardens, they would also contribute to the prevention of erosion. Habitate or supporting service: The herb garden, will provide insects with an ecosystems during their movements. Insects such as bees are cruicial for the pollination of plants. The different array of herbs, also encourages diversity. Culture service: In todays concrete jungles, space comes at a perimium and thus natural environments, biodiversity, ecosystems and natural landscapes are asethetically pleasing and can facilitate a sense of belonging.
