I live in South Africa, our main supply is Coal which is mainly consumed by our industry, the next one up is Oil (imported) used for transport. As a new policy i would implement one that moves away from Coal all together and focus more on renewables. * all industries to provide 70 % their own (green labeled) Electricity within the next 5 years. this will force industries to reduce their energy consumption and they will contribute to a greener industry as a whole * Government will invest in green energy sources and reduce their reliance on Coal production for their source of electricity * As Oil is the next dominant and used mainly for transport, i would as a Government invest in green public transport as well as forcing the transport sector and private sector to invest in electrical cars or hybrids. With Government subsidizing the purchase of hybrids or electrical cars / buses / trucks via tax incentives * Government to invest in skills development for the sustainable energy industry, offering people from the coal industry free education into sustainable marked jobs
