From my limited own experience I have chosen Rotterdam (Netherlands) Eindhoven (Netherlands) Johannesburg (South Africa) Auckland (New Zealand) Brisbane (Australia) Characteristics that make a city live able for me are 1) nature/sustainability/innovative/forward thinking 2) climate 3) affordability 4) clearness / well organized 5) political / economical stable I live in Johannesburg, which scores high on climate for me, it is high for access to nature as it offers wildlife, use and coast. Affordability is good as well. Johannesburg doesn’t score very high in cleanliness and scores bad in well organized. There could be way more awareness campaigns against littering and even enforcing that by law. Jbrg is badly organized. Lots is done in cilos and solutions are often not chosen for the best way they serve the citizens but the most money the politicians can make from it. So corruption and nepotism is something that needs to be dealt with. Being from Europe political and economic stability only entered my list after having lived in Africa for some years. So fighting corruption and nepotism will also benefit the political and economic climate.
