FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2018-03-06 by Faizi Fifita
First let's take a look at the woman standing on the side of the road waiting to cross. Besides the few cross walks, Tonga doesn't have any traffic lights or crossing signals to help. The speed limit in the city is 40 kmh, not lethally fast, but definitely fast enough to cause damage or harm a person if they got hit. So the first piece of invisible information that i inferred is that my city needs more traffic signals, especially in the city where activity is the most. I would put cross walks on all intersections. Tonga's low budget makes it impossible at the moment to put traffic lights throughout the whole city. Second let's take a look at all the power poles and hanging cables.Tonga recently suffered a category 5 hurricane and one of the major out comes of it was loss of power to the city due to fallen power poles. I infer that the power cables should be buried. One, for the safety of the people from electrocution, and two for the benefit of the city and it's businesses so they don't lose power if a similar incident happens again. The image is not mine!
