Cartagena a City that emerged in the caribic coast, Mosts of ist Population live under the line of poverty and another small part live in this neighbourhood with high skycrapers built with a conventional globalized technique, concrete and steel. Due to ist proximity to the port the materials available for construction are infinite, they can be transported, and imported in an easy and eficient way. But as we see this sky line does not look like a typical traditional construction. Our history has changed and modelled also architecture. In this area many indigenous people used to live and their main building material was mud and wood that grows in the area. Later on with the Spanish conquest we get a colonial style with big houses with internal Patios that alow good flow of wind and natural ventilation for the Tropical climate of the City. In most of the iconic constructions of the colonial era you can see how they used a mixture of Stone and schells to construct the walls of the old City, a phisical border that used to determine the City. The photo Shows a City that has Little identity ist more like a globalized Environment.
