1. I just thought of luftdaten.info a German project where citizens collect air quality data and publish it. It helps the empower citizens to argue for more transparency and political action. Usually air quality gets collected by the states and they have their own rules and wishes on publishing this data. The data however helps to understand in which area the pollution of the air is critical and transport should get reduced. The sensors can be built by using cheap hardware ~25€ and an internet connection. The project was initialized in Stuttgart, a German city that has huge problems with air quality. Being also the home of Mercedes and Porsche the municipality as well as the state is very reluctant in publishing this data frequently with a certain depth. Luftdaten.info is anonymized by blurring the actual location of a self built sensor securing the safety of the sensor as well as the political anonymity of the owner.
