Areas in between are low rise settlements with lots of parks to provide a comfortable living environment. The river "Isar" divides Munich S/N and provides a cooling effect. The green will also absorb the heat, freshen the air and create a different wind velocity as opposed to the sleek office façades commonly placed. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? The river bed of “Isar” was renaturated. Thus, it provides a much greater flood area when winter floods come down from the Alps. As mentioned in point 3.) it is necessary to create more unsealed open, green space within the city and reevaluate some of the housing plans (density).
