This picture displays the dependency on electricity in the city of Bogota, Colombia. In this picture, one can observe that despite the existence of some natural light, almost the entire city (traffic included) relies on electricity for complementary illumination. Today, darkness, or nighttime no longer limits urban activities. Many cities consider themselves 24 hour cities. This, however, is only possible with electricity dependence and artificial illumination. We can see in the photograph that traffic wouldn't be possible, or wouldn't be safe without electricity to supply the necessary illumination past sunset. Additionally, we can see interior electricity permitting citizens a variety of activities, including connecting with each other at a distance.
