"Construction used to be a localised activity, but with the advancement of construction processes and construction materials almost every building contains components of a globalized economy." This photograph shows the construction of a Hilton Hotel in Bogota, Colombia. As can be seen, a Bobcat machine is being used in the construction process, a machine which is imported from the United States, and manufactured either in France, Czech Republic or China. On the other hand, Brick as the material in the facade, is a typical local material. It is produced in Colombia, and used widespread in buildings in Bogota. Glass and steel are also materials that can be seen in the photograph that are usually imported from the United States or Brazil.
