1.The three US cities with most intense summer UHI Los Angeles average 7.3°F Albuquerque average 5.9°F Denver average 4.9°F 2.In the city of Bhopal, May is the warmest month of the year. The temperature in May averages 93°F. January is the coldest month, with temperatures averaging 65°F. My area of residence is about 30 kilometers away from the city, but still a contrast in the temperatures can be felt. In the coldest months like January, my area of residence is about 2°F cooler than the city center. While the peak summers in the city are about 3°F hotter than the neighboring areas. 3.Measures which I propose. Bhopal, is ranked as the third greenest city in Asia. Hence, the green spaces control the UHI effect to great extent, but on the contrary, the dark colored Concrete and asphalt pavements absorb and radiate heat, hence increases the air temperature in the area. Therefore, I would more of unpaved, green grounds to be designed wherever they are feasible, ex. public spaces, parks etc. 4. Yes, there are various policies coming up by the government. Ex. A lot of green, promenades are coming up along the lakefront, which adds on to the green public-space.
