A personal qualification of México City Mexico City is one of the most important financial centers in the Americas located in the Valley of in the high plateaus at the center of Mexico, at an altitude of 2,240 m. Mexico’s capital is both the oldest capital city in the Americas and one of two founded by Amerindians. According to the most recent definition agreed upon by the federal and state governments, the Greater Mexico City population is 8.9 million people with a GDP of US$411 billion. On a personal scope an evaluation of the city can be done by taking the following factors –in order of importance-: economy, education, climate, safety and political stability. Such evaluation can be scored on a 0-100 point base scale. Mexico City is my chosen place to live due to its economy since most of the financial centers; international companies and the highest salary pay of the country –I give it a 100-. Next, due to it education infrastructure, since it is the house to the major university of Mexico –UNAM-. The offer of different subjects for every career is enormous; the research generated by the university is the most internationally significant of the country –for these reasons it get a 100-. Now, on a low point, we could find climate as being a megalopolis, it came with the price of an increasing polluted air – this get a 18 points on this scale-. During the las decade, Mexico City has become one of the safest places to live in Mexico, but this increment is not related to an increase of the security factors of the city, that are still the same as 20 years ago, but on the increase of violence on the country –this get Mexico city a coalification of 37 on safety-. Finally, and in accordance with the last factor, the political stability has also increase in the city; mainly its government has been captured by a left wing party which most of its choices have made adversities on the wholesome urban planning of the city –on this scope we get a 55-. In sum, Mexico City has a qualification of 62. On taking the lowest score of 18 on the climate, we should be very careful to focus it on the contaminant factor that alters the good climate of the city. Hence this factor relates more to an environmental scope which is the main reason that livability on this city is at its lowest. The exposure to polluted air makes activities decrease in the city; translating more of adequate forest areas –both inside and outside the city- in order to maintain a fair health living. A very difficult decision to move to another city can be evaluated based on the safety and the political stability. No other city in Mexico would score fairly higher on this factor given therefore a necessity to look out for foreign cities. Next, by applying qualifying the same factors, we can find Amsterdam with an 85 score, Berlin with a 91 and Prague with a 71. European cities were the ideal choice since most of them score above a 75 on the safety factor. All of them are capital cities with give an over 90 score on the economy and over a 80 in the education –note, none of the could score a 100 on the education-. Finally the climate factors are diverse but the political stability increase the livability since all these cities have active political and social programs on this scope.
