The ecosystem services that is found in and around my living area are as follows: 1.Provisioning services: Some of the fruits & vegetables we eat are grown in the nearby areas, water comes from the underground source and dry wood used for cooking (by poor people) are collected from trees in the city. 2.Regulating services: There are lots of trees in our city and vegetation is thick, which keeps the city cool during summers, improves the air quality and absorbs the carbon dioxide. These trees also prevent soil erosion, particularly during heavy rains. There are also rivers, ponds and canals which helps to maintain the environmental balance. 3.Habitat or Supporting services: Lots of animals and birds thrive in our city. Peacocks, woodpeckers, kingfishers, owls, kites, dove, butterflies and different varieties of parrots are seen quite often. 4.Cultural services: “Punit Van” is a huge green park in our city created within a natural forest area with walking and jogging track and large open of green lawns meant for yoga and relaxation. The park has lots of medicinal plants of different varieties, a lake with a fountain and lots of different varieties birds are seen in this park.
