In Bryanston Johannesburg where I live the dependancy on `electricity has reached a vulgar level. We have become as dependant on electricity as drug addicts are on their fix and power companies have reached "dealer" status. In the area where the picture was taken the residence are VERy security conscious. In the picture of a home you can see: 1. An electric gate to keep the property secure- which makes you feel safe. 2. An electric fence that keeps unwanted elements out and its energiser box - which makes you feel safe. 3. Lights on the columns that light up the driveway - which makes you feel safe. 4. A CCTV camera so you can see who is coming and going - which makes you feel safe. 5. The entry point of the Fiber Internet line so you can communicate with the outside world from inside your "prison cell". 6. The above ground electric power supply that runs lime an umbilical cord form the Power Station to each house.
