The picture shows the building site for the ‘Collectiegebouw Boijmans van Beuningen’ in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The picture is taken on the 30th of November 2017. When finished, the building will have the shape of an enormous egg, cut in half, covered with mirrors all way around. The top will be covered with flora. The building will function as a depot where visitors can see artworks that are not on display in the museum next to it. The foundation consists of steel and concrete. So far, the construction of the ‘egg’ shape consists of steel covered with wood. The steel comes from Norway, Russia, Turkey or the USA, depending on the exchange rate. The wood most probably comes from Norway, as Norway is a huge supplier of wood and has been a pleasent trading partner to The Netherlands for a long time. The concrete is most probably imported from Germany, England or Poland, as they are big suppliers and geographically closely located to The Netherlands.
