In the USA cities temperatures in urban area is very much greater than the temperature in rural areas and city outskirts. 2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? In the urban areas and especially in Central Business District areas the urban heat island effect is very high. The narrow streets, High usage of air conditioners, more concrete buildings and less greenery improve the UHI in urban areas. But the rural areas are very green and open to air so, the UHI in rural areas is very less. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? To lower the urban heat island effect I would propose to increase greenery with more tree cover and number of parks in the city. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? The local government in Bhopal city not really concentrating on the UHI.
