FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2016-07-28 by Pau Caunce
In this image, we can see three cars, which appear to be moving. There are traffic lights arranged to create a pedestrian crossing but there are no pedestrians. The double red line road markings indicate that there is no parking or stopping at any time on this route. In the background, there are mature trees. The invisible data might include: The length of journey each vehicle is making. The average speed of each vehicle for their entire journey. The number of vehicles per hour that pass this point. The amount of air pollution being created by traffic. The perceived barriers to active mobility. Using sensors, or crowdsourcing data may provide information about minimum, average and maximum journey distances. By understanding how motorists use this route, we would obtain knowledge that would enable realistic alternatives to be proposed in order to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, reduce personal expenses and increase active mobility to improve life quality in the area.
