In Switzerland this is the oil and oil products, which are used basically for transportation. Nuclear energy is on second place, but doesn’t qualify as fossil fuel. Oil is foremost used in transportation, which means, that when electricity could be used for transportation, there would be a lot less import of oil products necessary. The public transportation system has reached its limits. So there are car sharing and working at home as alternatives left. I am really distressed by the low pricing of flights; it's a lot cheaper to fly than to travel the same distance (inter-european) by train. I am strongly for a higher flight tax, maybe to support international train-service. Older heating systems are oil-based as well. If a new quarter is built many houses can share an earth-heat-pump, while insulation can help prevent loss of warmth.
