I live in the London Borough of Newham where there is already an app that allows citizens to report dumped rubbish or dirty streets. 'Love Newham' is a free smartphone app and website that allows citizens to report environmental issues directly to the council. In less than 40 seconds citizens can report problems such as graffiti, fly-tipping, fly-posting, litter and dog fouling. To enhance this app I would recommend that it also includes other street maintenance issues such as faulty street lighting, broken road signs or street furniture e.g. broken benches or playground equipment. App users would log in, record their location, take a photo of the issue and submit it for consideration. The user would also receive an update on their submission and how / if it being addressed.
