What is it? What is the relation between big data applications and sustainability? What is the net effect of improved efficiency versus increased resource consumption, who gets to measure this, and how? Sustainable cities cluster is a non-profit project that aims to create algorithms using directed networks to relate cities characteristics. The algorithms will in turn be geared up by analytical software to amplify our understanding on sustainable relations among cities. What is the project about? Our main final product will be sets of directed networks that will include all important information of cities. Big Data collection and analysis serves to make the invisible visible by presenting the reality of a city. Several methods can be used to analyze the information base on the visualization, clustering and classification of data. Our proposal is to use them in conjunction with citizen science, as we wish to gain knowledge not just on what a model says is correct but on reflecting the desires of all the population.
