My app is called C.A.R.S (Cooperative Active Ride Sharing). For context Santa Cruz is a medium sized college town. Lately the university has increased it's students but simultaneously cut back on campus transport. To combat this the City of Santa Cruz has increased it's bus program but it is not enough. Furthermore, both the campus and Santa Cruz are isolated, Santa Cruz is on the hill behind the town and requires transport up to campus, and Santa Cruz lies near the ocean, on the other side of a mountain range from the central valley. Thus public transport within and outside of Santa Cruz is essential. Thus my app links Uber, Lyft and other cooperate ride sharing, bus routes, and our own campus tracking and ride sharing forums. Ultimately the app seeks to show what transport is available, where it is going, how much space is available, alternative routes, and allows for policy makers to map where demand for transport is greatest, both at initial and terminal points.
