There is a lot of road construction work going on in my area recently, and the way that the transportation department keeps local residents up to date is not very helpful. There should be an app incorporates 1) publicly available information about what new road projects are proposed and permitted, and 2) both government and user-entered data about lane restrictions, start and end times of construction, the range of the construction zones, etc. Assuming you use the app on your cell phone, you can easily set an accurate location of a construction area by having your location setting enabled. These features would let users plan different routes around construction zones, plan trips during non-work times, and let citizens stay up-to-date in realtime. This way, both major traffic projects and even smaller bridge or paving projects will be less of a disruption to the residents and businesses that are affected by construction.
