Davaoeños for Urban Development In response to a responsive city, my proposal for one of the most highly urbanized cities in the Philippines and an emerging city in the Southeast Asian region, Davao City is the DUD app. The proposed DUD app provides mobile and online citizen participation in the development of Davao City. DUD app hopes to bridge the gap between citizens and government, bring transparency to the public, and be a healthy environment wherein all classes of citizens in Davao City are heard. The main functions are as follows: 1. “I Propose”: DUD functions as a twitter-like platform wherein citizens can provide suggestions for possible development areas such as infrastructure, transportation, urban green parks, among others. Citizens can post photos and captions to be included in the DUD feed seen by the online public. 2. “I connect”: the DUD app features an inclusive platform for all citizens to discuss and debate about past, current and future urban features and problems. 3. “I answer”: the proposed DUD app will be under supervision of the Davao City Planning and Development Office (DCPDO) wherein questions and queries are provided answers by the the DCPDO so that the public be informed.
