App-enabled dockless bike sharing services, like the Chinese Mobike and Ofo and homegrown Obike, have proliferated in Singapore in the last year. While the city is not experiencing extreme levels of vandalism being suffered in the west, bikes are being parked indiscriminately, a function both of a lack of formal bike stands and the flexibility of the service. NOBIKE would be a government run app for the reporting of dumped and obtrusive bikes. It would enable people who are not subscribed to the bike services to report abandoned cycles and have them quickly removed by the authorities who would handle communication with the bike companies or impound bikes if they are not cleared within 24 hours. Perhaps more importantly, the app could consolidate data on usage patterns across all three private services, identifying where demand might exist for more formal transportation services such as bus routes.
