The 'Citizen Involvement Tool' is an application to empower responsive cities and give its stakeholders the most important functions to access their city (here Shanghai) and participate in their conception, design, planning, and management, while collaborating with the community: - It shall be simple to use - Starting with a landscape (3D), map, or list view, the user sees exactly where he or she is at the moment via GPS positioning - One can choose if to see what is happening in one's surrounding, or interact with the very place one is being at right now - When seeing a defect in one's house or office, or in a public place, maybe a defective street lamp, one can report it to the city government - It is also possible to check current traffic situations and help analysing their effects on the city e.g. by documenting noise levels or air quality (with special sensors attached to one's mobile device) - One can open news reports, documents and media informing about latest developments - The user can find other people and exchange on citizen design projects - Users can share ideas or vote on those of others - etc.
