1. I live in Campinas, SP – Brazil and there are no existing Citizen Design Science projects in urban design and planning that encourage citizens to share ideas towards the city’s organization. The government and professionals in the industry usually make planning decisions. However, there is an Information and Request for Public services page founded on November 19, 1984 called "The City and You", with the aim of being a channel of communication between the citizen and the City, for information and requests for public services, which are sent to the execution and response service areas. 2. Taking into consideration the county I live in, which is a very busy one, considering it holds 3 universities and various residential and commercial areas; I would like to improve the pedestrian mobility. Many students, who live nearby the university, frequently walk or ride their bikes. However, many streets and sidewalks are poorly structured and maintained. Initially, I’d fix the existing sidewalks and build new ones where it’s needed. There should also be a well-planned cycling zone, separated from the street; currently there are painted tracks on the side of the road, which is in most cases unsafe. The lightning of the roads should also be readjusted so that there aren’t dark alleys where people can feel unsafe at night. The main strategy to get people involved and aware of the changes being planned would be to have posters around the area, universities and restaurants, as well as groups of people or volunteers spreading the word. This way we can get as many people interested, to participate and give their input. 3. Guidelines: • Ensuring that the word gets around • Encouraging participation. • Ensuring inclusion of every class in the neighborhood, to widen perspective and prevent bias. • Aim to develop and improve the quality of life of the people • Conflict resolution • Making sure every idea gets accounted and a return to encourage future participation
