FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2017-07-18 by Niclas Preiss
Taken in the city center, the photo shows the density volume of people moving through the space as well as sitting in the restaurant. Age, gender, and ethnicity can also be observed to get a better understanding of who is using the space. Two "invisible information" could be: 1. the length of stay of people visiting the restaurants taken from gps coordinates generated by their mobile phone. 2. The movement of people between areas of the town center, extracted using the same method as previously mentioned. By tracking the movement of people through the town center, urban planners could decide where to place parks or buildings to increase traffic, reduce congestion, and/or make areas more attractive to live/work in.
