Madrid, due to its geolocation and economical weight into the country, is the main dry port of Spain. You can see in the image "MercaMadrid", which is the name of the dry port facility, where the main food stock feeds Madrid and its metropolitan area. To make this system affordable there is a constant flow of transportation from all over the country making Madrid not only the politic capital but also the economic capital of Spain. This situation generate a constant flow of professionals from other provinces and foreigners, mainly from Europe. Madrid in terms of livability is one of the best cities of Europe and attracts thousand people every year for business and tourism. Although the urban planning of the city is old the government review this planning each 5 years to renovate the city and maintain this attraction and quality of living. But in my opinion the administration should implement more technical advancements which improves the sustainability and resilience of the city making it smarter. The picture uploaded is not mine, I have taken it from Google due to I'm not currently living in my city.
