1) In this picture you can visualize the following information: an open public space with a few recently planted trees surrounded by an avenue and commercial buildings, only a few people walking, there are some antennas on the top of some buildings, some lamp posts along the avenue, a brown direction plate, exclusive bus lane, and a molted and shadowed façade wall of an older building. 2) Invisible information a. Most of the wired infrastructure has been undergrounded so they are invisible, but they surely exist since there are plenty of lamp posts along the avenue; b. The brown plate reveals it is a touristic site; c. The molted and shadowed wall shows that the sun usually does not reaches that façade. 3) The urban site shown in the photo is a recently opened public area in the middle of a very busy commercial district. That’s why the trees are not yet grown, the wired infrastructure has been recently undergrounded. a. The cleaner landscape promoted by this action can encourage private owners with the revitalization of the particular buildings that surrounds that opened public space, boosting up real estate prices and even promoting the substitution of old and degraded constructions by brand new buildings. b. Also, the brown direction plate indicates that the area is now considered a touristic site, so that it could be an opportunity to develop new business around. c. Good attention must be given to gentrification process that might happen, and affordable housing must be considered to be constructed to make this area more occupied by residents permanently and not only during working hours. d. The molted and shadowed façade is a good indicator for architects and planners about insolation and ventilation features of this area, which must be considered in further projects to avoid situations like that.
