2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? Lima, is located in the Peruvian coast, nonetheless, the climate is damp during all the year, increasing in winter almost a 100%. The humidity stand out the heat or cold. During 30 years the temperature had changed 6 degrees Celsius. The UHI effects also increase because of the polluted air in most of the cases produced by the private transportation and the traffic as a consequence. The concrete and all kind of infraestructure has intesify taking out the green and “clean” areas. The first picture is from Lima city, most populated (around 40% of all the country) also the density increase, growing to the top. The second picture is from Cusco, located on the highlands. The climate dryer and heighted. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? I would propose more planned programs to the development of the city and around the country, not neglecting rural areas, giving as the same opportunities to the city. Also increase the control to reduce the polluted air, like reduce the massive private transportation, integrate to the public transportation, and preserve green public areas. These measure would have a considerable impact from the quality of life to community relations. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? There is no policies as a macro view yet, however as a micro there some public programs focus on the youth because is the most motivate population around the country, we would like to be an active witness starting to educate the others from the home to the community. Some of those are reduce the energy using from 4 to 1 wheels transportation, sow on vertical walls, reducing the non-recycling materials, etc.
