I would like to comment on the third thought point of the assignment 3. Imagine that you have set up a project wherein you would like to make use of Citizen Design Science. Which guidelines are important in creating your own Citizen Design Science project? ** My CDS project would involve technology -mobile devices, apps, websites - as it is undeniably an effective method of considering large volumes of data and opinions that can be swiftly processed. Rather than setting up the system and information structure of the CDS, achieving participation from the citizen seems to be the more difficult part of the work. On that note, I would like to recommend some guidelines for my CDS project. 1. Identify a clear purpose/focus. An urgent social issue, a frequently debated problem... 2. The citizens will have to be introduced to the project through reliable sources, preferably by a personnel. Perhaps organising a day where the citizens can do a trial, or practice getting familiar with the system. They will also be able to experience how their voice does reach the decision makers and how it is important that they participate. 3. There needs to be a way that that non-tech part of the population can also participate. For example, some technical facilities would have to be available in public locations. 4. It is important that the citizens are not simply recording data and sending them to the government. Citizens need to be able to communicate with one another through the application. 5. There has to be a direct benefit/reward for the participation. Fun can be one of them!
