Think and comment on an existing Citizen Design Science project in urban design and planning from your area or country. In Tomsk, the program "Development of the urban community". The main objectives of this program are: - the development of an active urban community in Tomsk; - development of all forms and directions of local, public self-government and ensuring the participation of the population in local self-government; - raising public awareness on local self-government, on the work of local government. - Involvement of the citizens in addressing issues of local importance (public hearings, meetings and conferences of citizens, etc.); - identification, selection and preparation of initiators, organizers of public and local initiatives, coordination, provision of their activities. 2. Think and comment on the following example: Habitats of a certain neighborhood don’t feel safe when they walk in their neighborhood in the evening and during the night. In Russia, the law "On the participation of citizens in the protection of public order". In accordance with the law, citizens participate in the protection of public order on a voluntary basis. Take part in his protection can be both individually (including as freelance police officers), and as part of the people's squads and public associations of law enforcement. Only adults can join the people's squads and these unions. The requirements for people's combatants coincide with the requirements for freelancers. The law fixes the right of people's volunteers and non-staff police officers to an annual additional leave without pay for up to 10 calendar days. 3. Imagine that you have set up a project wherein you would like to make use of Citizen Design Science. Which guidelines are important in creating your own Citizen Design Science project? In Tomsk, the project "Building a Comfortable Urban Environment and Public Spaces" is working. 72 regions of the country, including Tomsk, receive funding from the Government of Russia to finance municipal programs to form a modern urban environment. The basic principles of this program: - Public participation (proposals from citizens, public commissions, public discussion); - A systematic approach to the urban environment; - Courtyard territories, public spaces; - Personal responsibility (for the program is the Governor of the Tomsk region, for the created objects in the yards – residents).
