Livability criteria in Bogota 1. Which are you top livability criteria? 1) Culture 2) Education 3) Safety 4) Job opportunities 5) Environment 2. Why do we live where we live? I live in Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia, I like living here because I have many recreation possibilities, like going to museums and galleries that are part of the culture of the city. Also I like the transportation that is offered by the city, like the transmilenio and the integrated bus system that the city has. I also like the city’s environment that I find exciting, is a place where you can have fun in amusement parks or a relaxed time in the different public parks that are all along the city. I like the climate of the city, because is not too hot or too cold, so there is always an in between where you can have nice sunny days or rainy days. Finally, I like the history that is along the city and how the infrastructure has grown, I think that creates an appreciation towards the city from the people we live in. 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? 1) Culture: 80% 2) Education: 65% 3) Safety: 60% 4) Job opportunities: 70% 5) Environment: 85% I rate my city with 75% because of the deficit of safety, culture and job opportunities. Is a big city, where the population has increased over the years mostly because of the immigration of people from other regions of the country, which can have a big impact in topics like job opportunities for everyone, education and the capacity of the public transportation for all the citizens. 4. What would you change? I would change first the management of the public transportation and the accessibility to it for everyone in the city, I think that this can be a benefit for the environment by decreasing the use of motorized vehicles and increasing the efficiency of the transportation for all, making a more inclusive city, which is why the other thing I would change would be the availability of cultural spaces for everyone, where people can learn about social manners and how to have a healthy environment and citizen life. 5. Why do we move? I would like to move to Chicago because of the access to different cultural places and how this can be seen though out the city. I also like the infrastructure built in the city, making public transportation very easy to access and understand. I think the architecture is beautiful there, so I enjoy walking around all those streets and learning some history about the city through its architecture. The public spaces are very important to me, and this city count with a lot of parks and plazas for people that manage to integrate everyone and create nice comfortable places. And finally I like that Chicago is a city that keeps itself very clean for their citizens, and that’s something very important to have a clean environment. Another place I would like to live in is in Thessaloniki, because of the cultural that this city has, with its very rich history that you can perceive through the city in their museums and monuments. Another thing I like about it is the architecture around it, like the grand walls that are along the city as a part of their culture. Other interesting thing about is the environment, where you can also find very friendly people and that makes it a very peaceful city. And finally, in the outside of the city there are some beautiful parks where you can go and enjoy a pleasant time with your family. I would like to live in Singapore, because of the thrive that all the citizens have to improve their city, also because of the architecture there that they have built to support and improve the progress of its own city. I like also the importance that they have given to the green spaces, public places and the environment in the development of the city. Also the technologies that people are developing the to have a better place, and finally the nice people and environment that they have accomplish by compromising with the positive changes in the city.
