The nature in this illustration could be improved by adding more since the space around it allows it. The first thing that I think of when creating my own idea for a citizen design science project is to improve the environment in an urban housing area. Results of improving the environment at the living area will increase happyness, safety and well-being for the residents. It will also increase the houses value and the value of that entire area making it more attractive. Now, theres many ways and methods you could use to achieve these results. First thing is to gather the community and discuss what should be improved and what should remain as it is. An example could be to save the trees but to plant some more and regrow plants at certain areas etc. Second thing is to discuss who will do the work. At this stage you could set in motion a mandatory maintenence schedule for the residents, meaning they will have to do garden work a certain time a month. For more advanced tasks you could hire experts, the money used would be paid of by the redidents. These experts could for example build small parks, railings, improving roads etc in the area while gardening jobs are quite easy and is left for the residents. When the goals are met, for example improving the road infrastructure, set up railings around the build small parks, planting trees and plants, you would then have to analyze the outcome and check the progression of the area. Is is maintained? what kind of problems arise when these goals are met?. After awnsering these you would then have to set new goals to solve them, improving the area even more in aftermath. This is one way to improve an area with simple solutions, all it takes is time from the residents and small fees to buy materials and plants etc. These money spent on improving the area will later become capital for the residents houses as it increases in value.
