My city is known as a technology capital of the state of São Paulo, by that lots of industries are located on the surroundings of the city. A known company is the motor's factory of Volkswagen. They produce the stock of motors that flows to another factories or other stocks to produce the final material, the car, that can be seen as a flow, because takes people from one point to another or by his value, it means Money that can be Exchanged. Other basic information about the stocks and flows is the information that you gain on the universities, Today São Carlos has 3 big known universities and each year many people from the whole country and even international students arrives to study, representing a flow of people that takes with them knowledge and results of researches. For me the concept of stocks and flows can not be separated as every stock has their flow, for example, if you stock food one way or another you will have to eat this food creating a flow, or the flow to get this food. Stocks after a period need to flow because nothing stays the same forever. The concept of stocks and flows can benefit my area by stocking what is need as energy in the summer for example or water when its raining a lot, helping to build more options of sustainability, that when is necessary will flow. On the photo you can see an exemple of a set of gated residential areas, that means a big flow of people coming and going everyday, that needs a stock of energy and water and has a flow of food, water, Sewer, the stock is also the number of houses, and the flow how the people comes and goes.
