Istanbul is a big city with high population and this leads a huge energy consum. The electricity used in Istanbul is based basically from santrals where natural gas is transformed into electricity. Besides that hidroelectric or coal-based santrals are also sources of electricity in Istanbul. Having said that most of these santrals are placed in other cities.
