Photos taken from google. A. Provisioning service (Photo nr2-3) An area called Hisingen in Gothenburg (West outside of Gothenburg city) is an island that produces around 10% of vegetables consumed in Gothenburg. Hisingen is swedens fifth biggest island and is filled with housing, industry, agriculture, entertainment, stores and many more areas. The area is located near the inner city and is connected with bridges and tunnels. It is also the home for one of the biggest harbours in Sweden with alot of imports coming that way. Alot of food is imported and exported from this area. The good thing is the local distance for consumers living in Gothenburg. Providing additional capital to farmers and new establishments in this area will benifit the city and its exports, also reducing the imports of goods which will decrease the greenhouse gases by lowering transportations. B. Regulating service (Photo nr 1) The waste water treatment plant called "Rya verket" is also located in Hisingen at the coast (on the other side of the inner city). Its placement is not optimal because the city has spread out so much since it was build, althought its only neighbor is Gothenburgs harbour and a few near-located houses. The facilities consists of cylinder tubes which holds contained water as storage, service office, water tanks underneith the ground for storage and other buildings. The waste water is purified here and the water that can be distributed is done so by pipes out in society and that which is purified but still not drinkable is let out in the ocean. These kinds of water waste facilities must be placed near the ocean/sea because of the distance it needs to empty its storage if needed. A bigger distance of this will mean longer pipes for water transportation which will conclude in higher building, maintenence, repair costs. It will also need more material for construction and will be bad for the environment (because of production and transport of these materials). C. Habitat or supporting service (Photo nr 1) An area called "Rya forest" is the nature area between Rya verket and Gothenburgs harbour. This area is not to be exploited and its place is remained untouched by concerning laws. Alot of animals live in this forest and contains all which they need to survive. The big problem here is that its surroundings are very climate effective industries which can destroy its habitats easily. My biggest concern is the Gotheburg harbour which produces alot of oil and which is the main harbour for imported and exported goods. Alot of tankers (boats) and other transportation veichles drives by this area which pollute both water, air and ground. Sometimes, quite often, the harbour leak oil out in the water from boats and the buildings connected there. The water will then pollute the forest and its greenery will decline. The government has tried all it can to higher the costs of such catasrophys, trying to decrease transportation in these areas due to all accidents. Places like these should be moved, althought it is impossible to do that now when Sweden and especially Gothenburg rely on its economy and functions. People could if they want, enter the forest but is done so by not destroying it. If the park "rangers" sees something destructive you would get a big fine. D. Cultural service (Photo nr 4) An area called "slottskogen" aka castleforest provides alot of functions. Its big forest is located slightly outside Gothenburg inner city at its east end. This place contains a hiking path in the forest, a small zoo, alot of parks, alot of sports facilities, outdoor football fields and running paths. This is even a place for bigger outdoor events during the summer like concerts or sport related stuff like toughest viking. A city must contain these kind of areas which benifit the public health by increasing the happyness. The variation of activities math the majority of peoples interests. It is important to keep these areas maintained by green services like picking up trash, cutting bushes, cleaning parks etc. If the area is polluted and looks ugly, noone would visit.
