Food, people and buildings are three examples for flows and stocks in my city. Due to its constantly growth as an urban area, the production of food in Istanbul is really low. Even though there are still areas where people are still engaged in agriculture. There are bazaars in every district, at least once in a week, where food such as vegetables or fruits are sold. These foods are transported from rural areas in Istanbul or from other cities located in Turkey. Food is here an example for flow. Istanbul is the biggest city of Turkey. Therefore its immigration rate is pretty high. People who seek for better life qualities migrate to Istanbul and they usually settle in areas in which the job opportunities are more. So people who immigrate can be defined as a sample for flow. As mentioned many times before, the construction is a huge sector in Istanbul, due to its rapidly growth. The old buildings which are located mostly in the crowded areas count in urban renewal. They have been demolished and new buildings have been built. The city is in a so-to-say renewal. This constant change can be described as an example of flows in a city, but if one considers this buildings after they have been built, they are stocks of city for long years, maybe even centuries.
